Deep River, February 12, 2009

As part of the BPQ celebration and presentation of Black History Month at the Chittick School, we played an arrangement of Deep River, by H.T. Burleigh, for quartet and guest artists. We did two shows, one for grades 2-3, the other for 4-5. The kids did really well, especially when they proudly played for their fourth grade peers. I hope that we can make this special experience of BPQ plus students a staple of our February programming every year.

Many thanks to:

Michelle Rush, viola (and fourth grade leader)
Ashleigh Gordon, viola
Kate Jensik, cello
Shaw Pong Liu, violin

"Seagull" from first ever concert by Boston Public Quartet

This clip was the grand finale of our very first concert from last year, our pilot year! The song "Seagull" is very special to the group, as it is the first song we ever learned! The piece is by Edward Huws Jones, from the Red Parrot Green Parrot book.
